Free Tutoring Program at the Library
Get help with math, reading, learning strategies and more...
The Cherokee Regional Library System has launched the return of their highly anticipated free tutoring program, “Time with Teacher.” Within a mere 48 hours, the program successfully scheduled over a hundred 1-hour sessions across Dade and Walker Counties.
The program is available for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, and will continue through the 2023-2024 school year.
“In a post-COVID world, extensive research has been conducted to identify the most effective approach for tackling Learning Loss. One-on-one instruction, occurring outside regular school hours, leads the list as the optimal method to address this issue,” affirms Lecia Eubanks, Director of the Cherokee Regional Library. “The public library’s core mission is to foster life-long learning within our entire community. We are honored to offer this service to our youngest readers.”
State Representative Mike Cameron acknowledges the significance of this service, stating, “This is a very important program that allows students from Dade and Walker County to get additional help in areas where they may be deficient, and I applaud the efforts of the library for offering this resource.”
The program has been funded by the Frank P. Pierce Foundation. “We at the Frank Pierce Foundation are happy to supply the funds to make this important program possible,” says Representative Steve Tarvin.
