The mission of Next Chapter program is to provide quality training and programs to help reduce recidivism and to enhance life skills, and build a stronger sense of community.
What is the Next Chapter Program?
The Next Chapter Program is a re-entry program designed for the inmates of the Dade County Jail. The program consists of video modules that teach basic digital literacy, economic self-sufficiency and life skills. Topics like basic household finances, budgeting, how to care for a car, how to maintain a home, how to open a bank account, how to pay bills online—this is knowledge many inmates lack, but need in order to navigate life. There is a virtual live-classroom component to the Next Chapter Program which is overseen by the Dade County Jail.
The video courses for the Next Chapter Program were developed by the Cherokee Regional Library System with grant money from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
In order to qualify for the Next Chapter program, inmates must be booked on a non-violent crime, and sign an agreement to fully commit to complete the program.
