Georgia History & Genealogy Room
NEWS
Due to severe funding cuts, the LaFayette-Walker County Library hours have been cut to 30 hours per week.
Our wonderful Georgia History Room will only be open 13 hours, Fridays from 10:00-5:00 and Saturdays from 10:00-3:00. During these times the room will have someone here to assist you as much as possible. The room will be locked the other 17 hours.
The shortage of hours the room will be open will greatly restrict the ability to respond to special requests. These requests will have to be by mail or e-mail, NOT by phone. Your patience will be appreciated while your request is handled.

The Doris Coulter Hetzler Memorial Georgia History & Genealogy Room houses a special collection of books, microfilm, files, and other materials needed for genealogical and historical research. Although the collection focuses on Georgia (primarily Northwest Georgia), other states are represented. Adjoining states and migration route states are of interest to our researchers. The Walker County Historical Society collection is in our Georgia Room, plus local organizations and individuals donate materials. Carol Smith manages the Georgia History and Genealogy Room.
